This week’s verse is from Psalm 23:1 “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
Today, think about that little word “my.” Sometimes it feels as if God is there for everyone but you. Someone else got the lucky break; you are the one dealing with chronic illness; your friend knows exactly what he or she wants out of life, while you feel disoriented and confused. The Lord might be a shepherd, but he’s taking care of another flock while you are lost in the wilderness.
He is YOUR shepherd; he has already chosen you, but waits until we return the favor. Only if you choose him do you get the benefit of his attention, guidance, healing, and protection. If you’re wandering, he will look for you and find you. He won’t however, force you to come home. Responding is our job. So choose him today. Let him tenderly care for all that is lost and broken inside you. Let him be YOUR shepherd.
