His Story

 January 17, 2024

Emma performed right on schedule this morning. 4:00 am, I was up, let her out, started the wood stove, worked out, and had time with the Lord, all before 6:30. Prayed with my friends at 8:00, and drove to Cassadaga to do some work at the cafe.

My reading this morning was in Genesis. Chapter 50, verse 20 reads:

“But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.” —Genesis 50:20

This is an amazing thought; God can even use our sin for good! We may intend evil; we may not intend it, but fall into it, but either way, our sin is never bad enough to cancel God’s goodness. If you’ve ever felt as if you have stepped over the line, that what you did was too much for God to forgive, that there is no way God could forgive, much less use you again, read this verse carefully. God took the evil Joseph’s brothers did to him and used it to save thousands of people who never learned the backstory to their salvation.

If God can do that, he is more than capable of redeeming, renaming, and resurrecting that old, dead body of your sins till even they are woven into the tapestry of his story of salvation, your salvation story. Your heart may still cringe at the memory of your sins, but God is already at work reshaping your history till it becomes “His story.”
