“I’m calling to let you know I’ll be at your place in about an hour.” You wouldn’t think things could go downhill from such a simple statement, but that’s exactly what happened. A few days before, I had answered an ad for some tires, and arranged to pick them up today. Last night, in spite of agreeing to meeting me today, he sold them to someone else. A few years ago, that would have thrown me into a tailspin. I’d have been fuming for hours. Today, although things didn’t turn out as I had expected and desired, it’s OK. I’ve learned to trust that God knows what he is doing, even when I don’t. It’s a lot easier that way; I go to bed with gratitude instead of ulcers.
